Supporting our Military men and women is one of the many ways in which Americans show love for their country. In today’s political and socio-economic climate, it is becoming increasingly easy to grow apathetic or even cynical when it comes to the state of our Union. Yet we still stand strong. And nobody stands stronger than our deployed service men and women, military veterans, first responders, military families, and caregivers.
With this in mind, today we will be looking at how citizens can best support our military through a number of different channels. Here at HEFF, we are proud to contribute a tube of our hand, elbow, and foot cream through Operation Gratitude for every tube sold. This is our small way of giving back. What is Operation Gratitude?
Operation Gratitude is a charity foundation focusing on “forging strong bonds between Americans and their Military and First Responder heroes through volunteer service projects, acts of gratitude, and meaningful engagements in communities nationwide.”
Operation Gratitude collects goods, services, letters, and more from volunteers around the country. They then use those donations to send care packages to active military men and women, military families here at home, wounded heroes, and much more.
Individuals, groups of individuals, and even corporate sponsors are welcome to participate by engaging employees and customers, having community events, and so forth. When donating or volunteering for Operation Gratitude, it is important to remember that no contribution is too small nor is any help unwelcomed. There is no wrong way to become involved!
How HEFF for Men Supports Active Military and First Responders
As mentioned above, HEFF supports our troops by donating a tube of our hand, elbow, and foot cream for every tube purchased. For those who have purchased HEFF or plan on doing so in the future, ensure that your tube is going towards a donation by completing the following steps:
- Navigate to HEFFrelief.com
- Fill out the form on the home page, including your unique code. The unique code is found by removing the sticker on top of your HEFF cap. That’s it for your end!
- HEFF will then send a tube of hand, foot, and elbow cream to Operation Gratitude.
- Operation Gratitude will then package HEFF in one of their care packages to be sent to an active military member, first responder, or other hero.

Other Ways to Support Troops and Their Families
Of course, working with Operation Gratitude and/or HEFF through our donation program are just two of the many ways that you can support active military, veterans, first responders, and more. If you are interested in getting more involved with lending a hand to our troops and their families, here are some great ways to offer your support.
Write a letter. It cannot be overstated how important written correspondence can be to active military members and their families. This can be for an occasion like a Holiday Card or simply a letter stating your appreciation for the military member’s service. There are many organizations that facilitate sending letters to military members including Operation Gratitude, Blue Star Families, and through the USO.
Foster a military member’s pet. Leaving a pet behind is a common occurrence for those who have been deployed. While our military members serve our country, you can help by fostering their pets through a number of services such as Dogs on Deployment.
Volunteer to visit the grave sites of fallen heroes. Another great way to honor our nation’s heroes is to volunteer your time to visit grave sites, place flowers, place flags, and perform other services. This not only pays respect to our fallen heroes, but also to their families and loved ones whom they have left behind.
Donate goods and/or services. Many of us feel that we may not have much of value to offer. This is an understandable, yet often untrue sentiment. At home, we can take our material possessions for granted. For our active military members, these amenities can make a huge difference in their quality of life.
Any donations are welcome, but commonly needed items which many of us have include old cell phones, coupons, expired coupons, calling cards, gift cards, homemade gifts, old clothing, and much more. Your donation does not have to come with a hefty price tag to make a great impact!
